The Impact of Language

Language is the tool we use to communicate ideas, beliefs, and stories to others. Without meaning to, what we say to our clients can set expectations to live up to, lay seeds of doubt and disappointment, or make promises of outcomes we can’t actually control.

We may feel confused or even attacked when a client comes to us with conflicting feelings about their birth, not understanding how our language may have shaped their experience. In this class we’ll explore the power of language framing, how to recognize when framing happens, and develop skills to reframe common birth messages.

Charlene Hamilton is a mentor artist and writer, as well as being an avid reader and married to someone who creates languages for fun. This means that digging deeper into language is part of her daily life!

Birthing From Within is pleased to offer payment plans and coupon discounts for many of our courses.

Payment plans for this course can be found when you click on the drop-down menu next to the ‘Purchase’ button in the header above. Discounts are accessed by entering a Coupon Code on the Payment Page. Please read below to see how Payment Plans and Coupon Codes work.

How Payment Plans work:
When you choose a Payment Plan, you are choosing the number of months for your plan and the payment amount for each month. You will be asked to enter a credit or debit card number. Your credit or debit card will be charged that amount for the following number of months chosen in your Payment Plan. Payments will be deducted on the same day of the month that you enrolled (though the payment system uses the UTC time zone, which may be up to one day earlier than your time zone, so be aware that payments may be deducted earlier for that reason).

How to use a Coupon Code:
When you click on the ‘Payment’ button, you will be taken to a registration or checkout page (depending on if you have created an account with Birthing From Within before and are logged in to that account). Once you reach the payment page, you will see the total price for your course, and a link that says ‘Have a Coupon?’. Click on that Coupon link BEFORE YOU ENTER YOUR CARD NUMBER to open the field to enter your coupon code. Be sure to enter the coupon code exactly as you see it - do not use uppercase letters. Click on the ‘Apply’ button to calculate the revised price. Then proceed with entering your credit or debit card information to complete your payment and registration.

How do Coupon Codes Apply to Payment Plans?
Coupon Codes that apply a percentage discount will take that percentage discount off each monthly payment. Coupon Codes that apply a dollar amount discount will take that entire dollar amount off your first payment only.

Birthing From Within does not offer refunds. If you cannot attend a workshop you have registered for and know this more than 14 days in advance, you may transfer your registration to another workshop of the same type, within one year, for a $50 rescheduling fee.

If you cancel less than 14 days before the workshop date, your registration is NOT transferable.

Once the workshop has begun, no transfers will be allowed.

If you will be unable to attend this training for any reason, please contact our office as soon as possible as we often have a waiting list.

If Birthing From Within needs to cancel a workshop or retreat, you will be credited the full amount paid.

We cannot be held liable for any fees you might incur for airline ticket cancellations, so please make sure to purchase travel insurance if you are flying to attend one of our workshops.
